Precisely a year ago the initial idea of creating an alternative official website for the town of Maladechna appeared. There were many different ideas with lots of preparation and desire to create a space on the internet without Belarusan government's censorship in political, ideological, and other fields. But the desire to create a website mostly in native Belarusan tongue outweighed.
Thoughts were countless… However, there were so many technical issues with the website that the initial creators of the website could not face on their own. They turned to BYMA (www.belmov.org) for help with the project. Re-evaluating all the goals and challenges with the project, the creators of the website still face some problems. First of all, the website "Maladechna For Freedom" (www.maladechna.org) is still handled by the few amateurs. The network for the reception and upload of information still does not exist. The town's forum works with difficulties… However, so much has been accomplished by now. The website does exist, work, and gets renewed. The desire is to go beyond the achieved point, but not everything comes at once. During the existence period of "Maladechna for Freedom", the website was a constant target of hackers and opponents of the idea. During the hackers' attacks, the friends of BYMA always came to rescue the project so that the website used to start working again as if nothing had happened. Website www.maladechna.org is not the only creation of BYMA. It was BYMA that created multiple websites for regional communities in BELARUS. Today Belarusan government cannot do anything about the growing popularity of Belarusan internet; therefore, the global network becomes of primary importance in informational sphere of Belarus. It is apparent that BYMA is making a change in the future of Belarus with a very prospective and useful participation. Cannot help but express the words of deep gratitude to the true Belarusans, who, despite being so far away from Motherland, did not stop caring about the future of Belarus and remain true to their nation. BYMA does everything possible to help democratic movements of Belarus in their fight against the dictatorship, thus, helping Belarusan people satisfy their constitutional right for receiving information. |
