It was next to impossible to observe how the web-site of one of the Belarusian organizations in America was being scoffed at with impunity.
The web-site of the Belarusian-American Association was hacked several times during the last year. Those who did it always left inscriptions in the Turkish language. Last time the hackers implanted a small script in the first article, and all the users who tried to open www.baza-belarus.org were redirected into www.cyber-riot.org/HACKED. Analysis of the situation and the latest attacks showed that the successful attacks were possible because the web-site was using an old version of phpNuke content management system. Information about security holes in this cms is freely available on the internet. The best solution for this problem would be to replace the current cms with a newer one with a stronger security features. Unfortunately, numerous offers to help were not accepted by the BAZA’s senior officials. The Belarusian Youth Movement of America could not stay away and run its own investigation resulted in a closure of www.cyber-riot.org. We found out that the company that provided hosting for the mentioned above website was located in the USA (www.hopone.net). So we contacted the company and demanded to shutdown www.cyber-riot.org. Since then the hackers’ web-site is not accessible. Technical group of the Belarusian Youth Movement of America |
