Ivonka Survilla’s Address to Belarusian People on occasion of 91st anniversary of Belarusian Nationa E-mail
Saturday, 21 March 2009

Dear  Fellow-countrymen!

On behalf of the Rada of the Belarusian National Republic I have an honor to congratulate You on our national holiday, on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of the declaration of independence of BNR on March 25, 1918 that we call Freedom Day.

National holidays are always celebrated with solemnity and joy. From the bottom of my heart I wish this day for all of us in Belarus and as well as abroad will give rise to manifest our love for our country. At the same time I ask every one of you to think where the current political regime in Belarus leads the county to.

The Belarusian people lives in bondage. Contract system, prohibition for children from Chernobyl zone to get help of gracious people from the civilized world, terror in forms of illegal bugging and tapping, fingerprints, unlawful searches, confiscations and arrests, photographing people at public meetings, novelty – army draft of the unruly youth after expulsions from schools and universities, limited access to true information. Belarus resembles Zimbabwe under the dictatorship of Mugabe. There is one thing left: to conduct a referendum on livelong presidency and heritage of political power by right of succession without poll.

Europe is trying to help Belarus but only the Belarusians themselves are able to stop the orgy of dictatorship. Only you, my fellow-countrymen, can prove each other and the whole world that you are humiliated by self-willed regime and yearn for placid and better life.

Rada of the Belarusian National Republic does its utmost to make the outside democratic world aware of the situation in Belarus and favor the revival of the democratic system and social liberties.

Rada works hard to insure our revival efforts last, our Belarus lives and develops and the Charter on Independence of March 25, 1918 is not forgotten. Let’s keep in mind that remembering our Past guarantees our Future.

Help us God!

Long Live Belarus!

Ivonka Survilla,

President of the Rada of the Belarusian National Republic
