The St. Cyril's of Turau Cathedral in Brooklyn, the main sacred place of the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox Church celebrated its 50th anniversary on November 25.
The celebration began with festive liturgy. Then R. Garoshka, Kipel, Alla Orsa-Romano, V.Stankevich, M. Saganovich, A.Kolbun addressed the meeting telling about the history and development of the St. Cyril's of Turau Cathedral. The oldest Belarusians shared their recollections and memories of the cathedral. The cathedral received a lot of warm words and presents. Music of the Belarusian folk group of the Kazaks created wonderful atmosphere and tasty Belarusian food was prepared by the sisterhood of the cathedral.
Exhibition of a famous Belarusian artist Genadz Drazdou appeared to be the culmination of the celebration. With the help of the Belarusian Museum in New York about 20 masterpieces were presented and the author explained the meaning of his works and read several of his own poems.
We would draw your attention that the St. Cyril's of Turau Cathedral is the center of Belarusian immigration in the USA thanks to financial help and manpower. We want to believe that Belarusian patriots and the faithful will gather in future in this cozy nook, a small part of our Motherland though so far away from home.
