15 жніўня, як і заўсёды ў суботу, беларуская грамада Ню-Ёрку і ваколіцаў працягнула працаваць у Саборы Сьвятога Кірылы Тураўскага ў Брукліне. На гэты раз мужчынская палова была занятая падрыхтоўкай бакавога дворыку Царквы ў належны стан для заліўкі бетоннага пакрыцьця. Мужчыны прыбріралі пляцоўку перад Саборам і з левага боку, а таксама даставілі з крамы будаўнічыя матэрыялы – пясок, цэмэнт ды граві, каб заняцца заліўкай ў адны з наступных выходных. Жанчыны ж падрыхтавалі царквоўную залю да нядзельнага набажэнсвта і прыгатавалі смачны абед.

Паважанае кіраўніцтва Шведскага радыё і Інгемар Лёфгрэн,
праграмы "Радыё Швецыя" на беларускай мове - значна больш, чым проста навіны. 70% насельніцтва Беларусі ніколі не былі за мяжой і таму не маглі бачыць, як функцыянуе дэмакратычнае грамадства. Беларускія праграмы даюць магчымасць беларусам даведацца пра жыццё ў Еўропе, якое будуецца на дэмакратычных законах - гэта тое, чаго не хапае жыхарам ізаляванай краіны. |

The day of August 9 was quite hectic for the members of the Belarusan Youth Movement of America. After a Sunday liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Cyril of Turau in Brooklyn and a presentation in the Belarusan Museum in NY, they took part in the rally in support of political prisoners in Belarus at the UNO headquarters in NY. |

Выступоўцы расказалі прысутным пра гістарычныя падзеі, якія адбываліся напрыканцы 80-х – пачатку 90-х гадоў. |

On July 28th 2009 in New York the presentation of Zianon Pazniak’s book “National treasures” (pocket edition) was held. This book consists of articles for youth education. The majority of these articles were exclusively written in 2000 year and they were published in the book “New century” including some new author’s works. This book is of pocket edition, which makes it easy to use in everyday life. |

On May 15th the halls of 401 Atlantic Ave experienced something grand and unusual for that concert space, a super performance by singer/songwriter/producer Olyia. The Hour and a half performance featured songs from her upcoming debut album as well as some singles that won cheers from the audience. The Non-Stop, jaw dropping performance featured dancers, musicians as well as Academy Award and Grammy Nominated Singer/Producer Charles Mack and JJ Breeze Jennings. |

On March 25, 2009 Belarusian Youth Movement of America celebrated its third anniversary. During the past year BYMA continued to develop and follow its priorities established two years ago. This year BYMA members concentrated on educational, social and cultural projects. We continued to participate actively in political life of American Belarusians by organizing actions that contributed to successful development of Belarus as a democratic country where human rights of its citizens are highly respected. |

Two months ago Belarusian human rights defender Yana Polakova tragically ended her life. She was born in Ukraine, later moved to Salihorsk with her family. She graduated from the Belarusian State University and worked as a lawyer at the local enterprise “Hope”, then she started to help common people as a human rights activist. She cooperated with Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, since 2000 with Oleg Volchak’s organization “Legal Help to the People”. |

22 years have passed since April, 26 the tragic date for Belarus. The greatest technological disaster has irreparable consequences for our country. About 2/3 of the radioactive fallout landed in Belarus and polluted approximately 1/5 of the territory and 20% of the population. The first wave of short half-life radionuclides covered almost entire Belarus though a part of them was forced to accumulate on purpose (not to let them reach Moscow). Everything was done with criminal secrecy so the people had no chance to escape. |
