It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards or candy. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. |

When talking about national liberation movement against Russian colonizers, courage and justice, love to Motherland and self-devoting work for one’s countrymen, we mention the name of Kastus Kalinouski. Kalinouski possessed all the qualities of a true leader, who believed in one’s countrymen. His urges to obtain true freedom and independence, which were pronounced more than a century and a half ago, did not loose its topicality even today. |
